For a Polish carrier in 2026, Belarus is one of the most complicated and risky directions in terms of fees. The system here is ruthless - every mistake in operating the on-board unit (OBU) ends in an immediate and very high fine.

Here is a full breakdown of the costs of traveling through Belarus in 2026, taking into account tolls, border fees, and specific costs resulting from the geopolitical situation.

All motorway fees (M1, M2, M3, etc.) are managed by the BelToll system. It operates based on microwave technology (DSRC), which requires a physical device in the cabin.

Rates per kilometer (BelToll System 2026)

Rates are established in Euro, but payment is made in Belarusian rubles (BYN) according to the exchange rate of the National Bank of Belarus on the day of payment. As of September 2025, indexed rates apply:

Vehicle category (over 3.5 t)Number of axlesRate per 1 km (in EUR)
Truck / Bus2 axles0.117 €
Truck / Bus3 axles0.146 €
Set (tractor + trailer)4 axles and more0.176 €

Example: Traveling with a 5-axle set on the Brest - Minsk route (approx. 350 km) costs approx. 61.60 € in road tolls alone.

Operating costs and deposits

Without an OBU device, you do not have the right to enter a toll road.

Cost itemRateNotes
BelToll device deposit50 €Refunded upon return of a functioning device
Minimum top-up (Prepaid)approx. 25 €Required to start billing
Mandatory disinfection at the border45 BYN (approx. 13-15 €)Payment at border terminals
Waiting zone (e-Ochered)40 BYN (approx. 12 €)Entry fee for the zone before the crossing

Specific costs of “Perecepka” (Transshipment)

In 2026, vehicles with EU registrations (including those from Poland) are prohibited from traveling across all of Belarus and may only enter designated border zones for the purpose of transshipping goods or swapping trailers.

  • Entry to the customs terminal (BTLC/others): Cost approx. 50 € - 100 € (depending on stay time and scope of services).
  • Permits (if required beyond limits): The cost of a permit for transport to third countries can be as much as 200 €.

Schedule of Fines

The Belarusian Transport Inspection is extremely meticulous. The WIM system and BelToll cameras catch every “beep” (or lack thereof).

Type of violationFine (if paid within 2h)Full fine (Ticket)
Non-payment (lack of OBU/funds)18.50 €260.00 €
Incomplete payment (e.g. wrong number of axles)18.50 €130.00 €

Note: The fine is charged for every section (between gantries) where a lack of payment was found, which can ruin a company on a long route.

Discover our Route Calculator

You already know the rates and what to look out for regarding currency conversions, but manually calculating costs for a route spanning thousands of kilometers is a direct path to errors. That is why we provide you with a tool that does it for you.

  • Precision down to the cent: Our calculator automatically calculates road tolls, taking into account the unique regulations of each country - from the number of axles and weight to vehicle dimensions and Euro or CO2 emission class.
  • The choice is yours: The system proposes several alternative routes. You decide whether you prefer to drive faster or cheaper, seeing the differences in travel time and final toll cost clearly.
  • Your fleet at your fingertips: You can save your vehicles in the system. This way, you don’t have to enter parameters every time - just select a specific truck, and the calculator adjusts the rates to its specification.
  • Real-time cost optimization: By seeing the total toll cost before sending a truck on the road, you can better price the freight and avoid orders that are simply unprofitable at current rates.

Test for free and without obligation. We believe in simple solutions, which is why we offer a free trial period so you can see how the calculator handles your most frequent routes. No “catches” or hidden commitments.

FAQ

How does BelToll work in Belarus and which vehicles does it cover?

The system is based on an OBU device and charges fees for travel on toll sections for vehicles over 3.5 t. The absence of an active device or funds on the account is treated as a violation and quickly ends in a fine.

What are the base rates per kilometer for trucks in BelToll 2026?

The article provides levels depending on axles, including approx. 0.117 EUR for 2 axles, 0.146 EUR for 3 axles, and approx. 0.176 EUR for 4+ axle sets. These are starting values that must be multiplied by the actual distance on toll sections.

What additional fees besides tolls should be considered before entering Belarus?

In addition to the road fee, there is a deposit for the OBU, a prepaid top-up, and border costs, e.g., disinfection or a waiting zone. In practice, failure to include these items underestimates the trip valuation.

Why is the risk of fines exceptionally high on the Belarusian direction?

The control system is automated and very tight, and violations are settled by section. This means that one mistake on the route can be charged multiple times, which drastically increases the transport cost.

What operational consequences does the "perecepka" model have for EU carriers?

Geopolitical restrictions force transshipment operations or trailer swapping in border zones, which generates additional costs and downtime. This must be treated as a permanent element of the budget on this route.

How to prepare a company so as not to lose margin on routes through Belarus?

You should combine accurate toll calculation with border costs, correctly configure the OBU, and implement document control for each trip. In this market, you save the most by eliminating operational errors, not through "cheaper" detours.
