In Moldova, the 2026 road toll system is based on the electronic vignette (e-vinieta). Unlike many EU countries, in Moldova, the vignette must be purchased not only for passenger cars but, primarily, for heavy transport vehicles registered outside the country.

The system in Moldova covers all public roads, not just motorways (of which the network is very limited). The obligation to have a vignette arises the moment the state border is crossed.

Classification and Price List of Vignettes for Trucks (2026)

For transport vehicles, the system provides three main tonnage categories. Prices are set in Euro (EUR).

Table: Price List for Heavy Transport (Rates in EUR)

1 day10.00 €16.00 €20.00 €
7 days30.00 €40.00 €70.00 €

90 days125.00 €180.00 €300.00 €
12 months445.00 €700.00 €1,200.00 €

Important for carriers: The 1-day vignette is available exclusively for buses and heavy goods vehicles. Passenger cars must purchase a vignette for a minimum of 7 days.

Other Fees and Border Requirements

In addition to the vignette, when entering Moldova in 2026, you should remember about:

  • Disinfection Fee: Similar to Belarus, a sanitary fee may be collected at selected border crossings (approx. 5-10 € per truck).
  • Giurgiulești - Galați Bridge: Crossing the bridge on the border with Romania may involve a small local fee (usually included in port or border procedures).
  • Green Card: Absolutely mandatory. The lack of valid insurance on Moldovan territory results in the vehicle being immobilized at the border.

Fine Schedule (2026)

The Moldovan Customs Service and the Border Police check for the presence of the vignette in the electronic system during departure from the country and during road inspections.

  • No vignette (check up to 7 days): Fine from 5,000 MDL (approx. 235 €).
  • No vignette (over 7 days): Fine up to 6,500 MDL (approx. 305 €).
  • No proof of payment: Even if you have a vignette, it is worth having a confirmation (digital or paper) to avoid delays during system verification.

Discover Our Route Calculator

You already know the rates and what to watch out for with currency conversions, but manually calculating costs for a route spanning thousands of kilometers is a direct path to errors. That is why we put a tool in your hands that does it for you.

  • Precision to the cent: Our calculator automatically calculates road tolls, taking into account the unique regulations of each country - from the number of axles and weight to vehicle dimensions and Euro or CO2 emission class.
  • The choice is yours: The system proposes several alternative routes. You decide whether you prefer to drive faster or cheaper, seeing the differences in travel time and final toll cost clearly.
  • Your fleet at your fingertips: You can save your vehicles in the system. This way, you do not have to enter parameters every time - simply select a specific truck, and the calculator adjusts the rates to its specification.
  • Real-time cost optimization: By seeing the total toll cost before sending a truck on the road, you can better price the freight and avoid orders that are simply unprofitable at current rates.

Test it for free and without obligation. We believe in simple solutions, which is why we offer a free trial period so you can see how the calculator handles your most frequent routes. No “catches” or hidden commitments.

FAQ

How does the road toll system for trucks work in Moldova in 2026?

Moldova applies a digital time-based vignette mandatory for the entire public road network. For a carrier, it is crucial to purchase it immediately after crossing the border and assign it to the correct vehicle category.

What determines the e-vignette price for heavy transport in Moldova?

The rate depends primarily on the vehicle mass and the selected validity period of the vignette. The heavier the vehicle and the longer the period, the higher the cost, so it is worth matching the variant to the actual trip schedule.

What additional border fees might appear besides the vignette?

The article points out possible sanitary fees as well as costs resulting from border procedures and documentation requirements. These items are not high individually, but they must be added to the entire route budget.

What fines apply for lacking a valid Moldovan vignette?

Lacking an active vignette risks a high fine and problems during road or exit checks. From an operational point of view, it is safest to have not only an active vignette but also proof of purchase.

Is a longer vignette period more profitable for regular trips to Moldova?

Yes, for frequent market entries, longer validity periods are usually more favorable than multiple short-term purchases. This also reduces the risk of administrative errors on the part of the driver and the office.

How to prepare a reliable cost calculation for a trip through Moldova?

You must combine the vignette cost with additional border costs, fuel, and operational time. Only a full calculation allows you to avoid underpricing the rate and losing margin on the Moldovan route.
