It knows not just where a vehicle is now, but where it will be at pickup time and how much driving time the driver will have left. Plus vehicle type, track record and hundreds of other parameters. The carrier accepts the order. If they decline, the engine picks the next vehicle from all carriers right away.

Questions
Is this a freight exchange?
No. On an exchange, carriers bid on rates. Here the shipper sets the maximum price and the engine picks the most suitable vehicle. No bidding.
Is this freight forwarding?
No. ONYX is not a middleman and takes no margin. Forwarders can't join, and orders can't be resold.
How much does it cost?
Orders are free for both sides. We charge no commission. The shipper pays €1,000, the carrier gets €1,000.
Do I need ONYX TMS?
Carriers do. Orders reach them through ONYX TMS, where the engine sees their vehicles. They start with 30 days free to take their first orders.
Shippers don't. A shipper account or an API integration is enough, for example from Transporeon, SAP or another ERP.
Who sets the price?
The shipper sets the maximum rate. The engine may find a carrier for less. Never for more.
What if the carrier declines the order?
The order goes back to the engine, which picks the next best-matched vehicle right away. It searches every carrier's vehicles, so it may be the same company or another one.
What are the payment terms?
You see the payment term in the order before you accept it. You settle directly with the shipper. If the shipper requires it, payment goes through ONYX. Still with no commission.
